Living water spring near the village of Bosnek
The village of Bosnek is the ideal destination if you want to escape the Sofia city at least for a day.
The biggest landmark in the area is the Duhlata Cave, which is the longest in Bulgaria ( over 18km ).
The other landmark that is just as interesting is the Living Water spring. You can access it via an ecotrail.
The spring is a stone shaped like a snake's head. A unique feature is that the water starts and stops again in a different times.
Temple well near the village of Garlo
There is one ancient temple that stands apart from the rest in Bulgaria. It is located near the village of Garlo, near Pernik.
The unique thing about it is that the temple is dug into the ground. There is a well at the bottom and instead of a dome there is a large opening toward the sky. According to the more widely accepted version, the temple also used to be an observatory and was build by an ancient civilization that once inhabited these lands.
Kovachevitsa Architectural Reserve
Kovachevitsa is located in the western Rhodopes, on the Kanina River, also known as the Bloody River.
The village's charm stems not only from the beautiful Rhodope nature, but also from the authentic stone houses. The main landmark is the Church of St Nicolas, built in 1848.
Kovachevitsa is an architectural reserve and has inspired generations of photographers and poets. Some call the village "Bulgaria's Hollywood". Over 20 movies were shot here.
